I recently acquired this spool from my friend Tasha. She is beginning a new chapter in her life but before that could happen she needed to pack up and move to Alaska. It seems a spool isn't one of the items you need when traveling thousands of miles away, so it became mine. I'm sure many people have seen these things turned into several items thanks to Pinterest. I fell in love with the spool turned table/bookcase. It took about 2 hours to sand, attach casters, determine dowel rod spacing and cut the dowels to fit between the platforms. Personally, I think it was a great return on our investment.
When we put many of our books in it I loved it even more!! Margarite was rather intrigued but Pedro couldn't be bothered during his afternoon siesta.
I think this was a great return on our investment today. I just can't seem to decide if I want to leave it plain or add a little color by staining. What do you think?
This turned out great and I am so impressed with how quickly you got it done! I love that Margarite and Pedro are in the picture too.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of staining and sealing it - more for durability than anything. The light wood color is really nice as it. You could also paint a carousel on the inside - just about the books. That might be fun too. :)
Excellent job.
